Contact Impro Tango - With Legs in The River of Dreams
weekend 31 January – 1 February 2026

A movement and dance workshop offering a unique experience on various levels of perception. A return to the body, which is created for movement, passion and diversity.
Contact improvisation and tango are the art of transferring movement between partners. Energy circulates between bodies and partners move together in a shared dream.

We will focus on legs that sense and create a shared story. We will find in them not only strength, musicality and connection to the earth. We will develop their sensitivity, agility and tenderness. We will discover how to tune in through our legs and how broad their expressive possibilities are. There are many ways to connect with a partner through legs and communicate with each other. This will open new bold possibilities in contact with a dance partner.

We will create a richer and more liberating form: open physical expression, freed from superficial rules. A dance in which natural movement possibilities are activated. From tango we will use: clarity of axis and use of spirals, mutual balancing and use of counterweight, rhythm and melody. From contact improvisation we will study: falls, rising, connection with the ground, lifting up, conscious use of centripetal and centrifugal forces, the relationship of a free body to the earth.

Tango combined with contact improvisation offers a range of diverse movements that are neither routine nor monotonous, always arising from within us and vitally important for our well-being. We learn to create a shared movement composition, a dream we share that transcends each of us while belonging to both of us. We both influence it, playfully exploring cacophonies, dissonances and moments when we need to boldly destroy in order to create something new and unexpected. This is how we gradually arrive at harmony.

This seemingly movement-based and physical work has a much broader scope. It allows us to understand our physical self, our physical relationship with society and nature. Insights from biomechanics, somatics and ecology merge into the concept of the Ecological Body and present movement creation as a path of knowledge, healing, communication and enrichment of one’s life experience.
No previous movement experience is required to participate and no partner is needed.

He is currently working on the „Ecological Body“ project in collaboration with a UN environmental researcher.
“The main goal of my work is to encourage the student to find connections between: an objective view of the body; (physical elements, body scheme: axis, lines of force, center of gravity, anatomy, etc.) subjective understanding of the body (emotional, expressive, creative consciousness and self-perceived body image) and the body in relation to the other; (its community, social and spiritual nature). In each workshop, participants are able to link learned physical activities with their personal creative expression and re-own them. Whatever the participants perceive and experience in the transient context of the workshop can be and often is transferred to the outside world, to their personal social context. It enriches the dance of everyday life. „
The workshop takes place in Prague.
Most participants are signing up on their own, it is not necessary to sign up in pairs.
The workshop is intensive: Saturday and Sunday 9:30 – 17:30, and is open to everyone regardless of age or prior movement experience.
