Fascial Awareness and a Dialogue with Gravity in Qigong and Taiji
weekend 7 – 8 November 2026
An intensive seminar masterfully links the ancient Eastern movement systems of Qigong and Taijiquan with the latest findings of Western science, whether in fascia research, neuroscience, or the principles of biotensegrity. It is a practical laboratory, a living exploration of the body’s ingenious organization on the path to a relaxed upright posture, a calm mind, and elastic strength of movement. Christian Auerbach masterfully connects the wisdom of the East with a direct, scientifically informed Western approach to help us discover the universal principles of movement and vital being within our own body.
You will go through a practice rooted in the quiet wisdom of the East. The concept of the Harmony of Heaven, Earth, and Man comes from the oldest Chinese teachings. It is not an abstract idea but an entirely concrete bodily experience. Each of us is called to find our own place, our stance that is at once firm and pliant, within the cosmic order. To become a living bridge between the energy of Earth that carries us and the inspiration of Heaven that draws us upward. It is precisely this path to finding one’s own axis, to anchoring in one’s center, that is the essence of all Qigong and Taijiquan exercises. The seminar will offer you concrete tools and deep insights into how to come closer to this ideal.
We will discover that ancient concepts such as the flow of Qi energy have a tangible counterpart in the modern understanding of myofascial networks. We will work with the body as an interconnected whole, where releasing tension in one place can create strength and support in another. We will discover how to release surface tension and activate the deep structures that carry our skeleton against gravity with ease. We will feel how a strength is organized in the body that does not arise from effort, but from an intelligent cooperation of release (Song) and integrated elastic tension (Jin).
Standing in a position known as „the Great Tree“ (Zhang Zhuang) we will explore the art of letting things go. We will allow the body’s deep reflexes to straighten us on their own, without unnecessary striving or muscular effort. We will observe how, with release, the breath calms and stability is born in the silence. We will discover what it truly means to be centered – not only physically, but also in the mind. Only then will we move into motion that is slow, conscious, and fluidly balanced, like seagrass dancing in the waves. We will explore various ways of standing, sitting, and walking – from the „Standing Pillar“ through the „Undulating Sea“ to „Spine Walking“ (Spine Walk). We will encounter graceful Taoist forms such as „Origin of Light“ or „Floating Dragon,“ and for a moment we will also taste the basic partner practice from Taijiquan, „Sensing Hands“ (Jue Shou), where the principles of contact and sensitivity come fully into play.
The direct way of teaching awakens curiosity and enthusiasm. The individual forms convey not only strength, flexibility, and vitality, but also an uplifting, mystical feeling. Yet it is far from being only about the intensity of the experience – above all, it is about understanding, through experience, the principles that will permanently change the quality of your movement and your perception of yourself.
The workshop will take you to a higher level, whether you are devoted to sport, dance, music, or simply want to live in your body with greater ease and well-being.
Christian Auerbach (Germany)
For almost forty years he has been on a masterful journey toward a living understanding of the principles that lead to perfection of form and restore to the body its natural intelligence and calm. He belongs to those teachers who embody the approach of Eastern bodily practices with all their curiosity, doubt, and deep knowledge. His hands and his words carry within them the memory of thousands of hours of his own practice and teaching, and yet his approach remains fresh, playful, and intensely present.
His own path has led him through many teachers of East and West, and from each encounter he has taken what was essential. In the way he transmits the principles of Qigong and Taiji you find echoes of modern neuroscience, fascia research, psychology, and Western spiritual traditions. He does not rely on mere mystery, but clearly shows why these ancient exercises still resonate so deeply and effectively with our body and nervous system today.
His teaching is deeply physical, contact-based, and rooted in direct experience. He believes that true knowing is not born in the head, but in the cells, and so he likes to use touch and gentle guidance to help students discover new possibilities directly within their own bodies. He is a guide who creates a safe and stimulating environment for your own discovery. In his seminars, the forms and sequences are an opportunity to find within yourself the quality of relaxed being, which you will then carry into every step, breath, and decision in your life.
The workshop is intensive: Saturday 10:00 – 18:00 and Sunday 10:00 – 17:00. For the enquiry about the possibility of sleepover reach us at druna@druna.cz.
