Contact Improvisation - Expanded Perception and Tissue Dialogue

weekend 25 – 26 April 2026

A captivating movement workshop offering a rare opportunity to discover and explore a new, unique approach to contact improvisation. Filip Wencki will introduce a method that is detailed and gentle with the body, allowing us in dance to brilliantly respond to the outer world while also expressing our inner state and emotions. It is about virtuosically merging the laws of physics with a deep sensitivity to what is happening within us, so that the physical dialogue with a partner is bold, full, and truthful.

Filip’s teaching goes deep and is designed for those who want to uncover the hidden possibilities of their body. Movement becomes a search for beauty and truth inscribed deep within our tissues. We will learn to use the full spectrum of the body, from skeletal support, through the entire range of muscular tension, to working with the fascial network. Great attention is given to subtle tone in the fascia and tendons, whose delicate structures carry not only information but also energy that can be harnessed in falls, lifts, and moments of stillness. Equally essential is working with the emotional dimension of the body, where every movement, touch, acceptance or surrender of weight resonates in our nervous system and evokes feelings and moods that become an electrifying force and new inspiration in dance.

Fine modulation of fascial tone allows us to expand into space – a psychosomatic effect that brings feelings of release and a surge of energy. Our ability to extend beyond physical boundaries allows us to move with a partner as a single organism, sharing the axis of rotation and finding stability even in the most unusual positions. We learn to „dance with the unknown“ – to surrender to the flow of events, to follow unknown and unpredictable paths without losing alertness, the ability to make decisions, and to consciously influence the movement.

We activate the ability to listen through our skin and muscles. Our communication thus becomes more open and complete. At the same time, it remains exciting and unpredictable thanks to the ability to express our own impulses and spontaneous creative proposals in dance. We achieve harmony with a partner without losing ourselves. The person we dance with is no longer perceived merely as support, but as a physical mirror of our own impulses.

We discover movement as a medium between inner experience and the outer world. We seek a fragile balance that allows us to freely respond to physical and emotional, external and internal stimuli, while remaining alert and maintaining the necessary degree of control.

Filip Wencki (Poland)

As a teacher, kinetic artist, and movement visionary, he seeks in contact improvisation a deep dialogue between the inner and outer world, where technical mastery meets human vulnerability. In his work, he masterfully unites precision and discipline with freedom and intuition. His unique approach to the body was fundamentally shaped by years of involvement in the international research group The Bridge of Winds under the auspices of the legendary Odin Teatret company. This experience provided a solid foundation for Filip’s precise work with physical presence and energy.

His workshops are an experience that opens entirely new horizons. Dancers undergo a transformation in the perception of their own body. The boundaries between technique and intuition dissolve, creating an opportunity to explore the beauty of movement that springs from sincerity and a complete experience of the present moment. Filip teaches his students to trust the intelligent body, which responds instinctively yet is capable of executing a clear intention.

As co-founder of Linia Nocna theatre and an active creator, he continually explores new possibilities of physical expression, whether as a director or performer. His teaching practice has a global reach; he shares his knowledge of somatic communication and „truth contained in the body“ with dancers across continents. He has led workshops in countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Thailand, and throughout Europe, where he inspires students to seek in movement not just form, but above all an electrifying force and an authentic experience.

The workshop is intensive: Saturday 10:00 – 18:00 and Sunday 9:00 – 17:00. It is open to anyone regardless of age or prior experience.

Price 165 EUR. For place reservation the deposit of 71 EUR needs to be paid in advance.
